Some historic facts - National Treasure Reviews
Very interesting way of entwining knows facts of history ! As many know, most of the signers of the Declaration of Independence were Freemasons (and was based on Masonic principles)together with the facts about the Knights of the Templar, make this an enjoyable movie. Visuals were exceptional !
Treasure on the silver screen - National Treasure Reviews
Initially, I was quite relunctant to see this film because i am not exactly what you would call a nick cage fan. However, the story does a fairly effective job of drawing me, a somewhat less enthusiastic viewer into the story. The whole charm of the movie in my opinion revovles around a classic treasure hunt with a unique spin on it. This time the treasure is an ancient treasure guarded for generations and brought to america by the founding fathers. Now the Founding Fathers have left behind clues in some of Americas most popular history to guide a discerning treasure hunter (cage) to the loot.
Im not gonna lie, i was surprinsingly entertained by this film. As usual Jerry Bruckheimer manages to make a movie thats value comes solely from the entertainment factor, which bothers me sometimes. However, i felt my $7 was well worth it......Acting was average, i mean you dont need to act as much in an action flick......plot, not exactly creative, but still interesting.
****I think this could be a great action/adventure movie for the younger crowd. It is PG and contains no explicit violence or sexual activity. It is harder to find an action movie that the kids can watch. Other than kids, anyone looking for the mystery and excitement of a tresure hunt, or their regular dosage of escapism should check it out.
Fun movie - National Treasure Reviews
Fast Moving, Good, Few Twists!
The movie is fun and we are glad we went. The plot is somewhat predictable. However I my date was clinching my hand tight thru some of the action scenes? GREAT! This is a easy movie to get into, and was left open for part 2.

Good (not great) flick - National Treasure Reviews
Watching National Treasure is enjoyable, but I doubt that anyone will feel a burning desire to see it again. It's good and the story keeps you interested, but it's not too believeable. There are a few too many times when Nicholas Cage solves centuries' old riddles in a matter of seconds. Also, the villain has a superhuman ability to stumble across the right clue at the right time to keep him on Cage's trail. On the plus side, there are some good jokes sprinkled throughout and the violence is kept to a minimum, so parents could take their kids and not have to worry about that.
My kids loved it. - National Treasure Reviews
Took 6 kids ages 9-13 to see this film last night. They LOVED it. That made mom happy (and I enjoyed the film too!)
National treasure - National Treasure Reviews
I thought it was a fun good movie from start to finish. I would love to see it again. There was no profanity and the violence was minimal. Great for the entire family.

Amazing! - National Treasure Reviews
One of the greatest films of the year! It's not boring, and it keeps you on the edge of your seat! The plot is great. It's funny in called for places. Who could ask for more? Nicolas Cage is good and the other actors are good too. It's packed with action!
Better than i thought it would be - National Treasure Reviews
thsi movie was alot better than what i thought it was going to be i thought that it was going to be one of those action movies with guns or a flawless mystery that led u the wrong way so many times that it wasnt good anymore and i would walk out but this movie was alot better than i thought it would be after my brother dragged me out to take him to see it. it was very surprising with lots of mysteries uncovered through out the whole thing he wanted me to refill the popcorn and i woulldnt one because the lines were rediculous
i do not understand how this movie is at the number one spot when other good movies like the polar express and christmas with the kranks is out and how is spongebob second that movie stinks it was so stupid it was NOT funny hope u enjoy the movie!
Please don't take the history "story" here as fact - National Treasure Reviews
I am truly amazed at the number of reviewers who unquestionably accept the stories presented in this movie as factual history. Yes, the Free Masons exist, and yes other bits and pieces of the movie do call upon actual historic events and figures. HOWEVER, just because historical names, organizations, and places are part of the story does NOT make the whole thing true! Just like the Da Vinci code, THIS IS A FICTIONAL STORY! Dan Brown himself has time and time again had to remind people that his books are historical FICTION! If you are interested in history, READ A BOOK. Please stop dumbing down the human race by refusing to take the time to learn the truth instead of treating a movie as such!

A mix between the mummy and indiana jones!! - National Treasure Reviews
This moive was excellent. I say it was a cross between The Mummy and Indiana Jones. One of the best I have seen in a long time! Cant wait for the second one to come out. Great acting, Great features! Made me wonder if it could actually be real!
National trash - National Treasure Reviews
Does anyone remember when Nicolas Cage (Adaptation) and Harvey Keitel (Reservoir Dogs) used to be in cool movies. Those days are gone. This movie is totally ridiculous!!! A secret treasure map on the back of the Declaration of Independence? Give me a break. Clues on a dollar bill? Yeah, right. This has to represent the worst that Hollywood can dish out. And the fact that some good actors are in this movie makes it even worse. Spongebob has more credibility. I saw this movie at a sneak preview. I didn't have to pay any money but I lost 2 precious hours of my life. Don't waste your money or time on this trash.
Pay no attention to the critics - National Treasure Reviews
Critics' reviews of this movie reinforce what you already think about them...they're complete idiots whose "profession" has little social value. Afterall, these are the same people who told us "Fahrenheit 9/11" was a brilliant documentary and that Michael Moore is a genious. Go see this movie, you'll love it. I've never been a Nicolas Cage fan, but went to see it anyway and loved every second. You may find yourself thinking, "I've seen this before in the 'Indiana Jones' trilogy, but it's easy to get past that and enjoy the historic ride. It really is a remarkable bit of story telling... and I can't recall a single profane word in it. It was a suspenseful thrill ride that deserves a look.

Loved it!! - National Treasure Reviews
I loved this movie. It is actually a movie that kids and adults can both watch. They go to neat places and using national monuments is great.
Not great but good entertainment... - National Treasure Reviews
Well, not much to write about for this one. Some good parts were the action, pacing, and the story was kinda different although a little weak in the ending.
The acting was ok but I found myself a bit annoyed with Cage and Kruger from time to time. That was ok because Juston Bartha's character was there to cheer things up. Keitel and Voight were good for what little time they made their appearences. Although there wasn't much character development on either of them.
The visuals were up to par and overall it was fairly enjoyable. Nothing really groundbreaking with this flick just an entertaining way to spend the afternoon. You won't be missing much if you wait until DVD.
Guess i wasn't supposed to like it, but i did... - National Treasure Reviews
This is one of those movies that you just hear people making cracks about and saying how it's for the unwashed masses, guess you aren't supposed to like it. Thing is, maybe the producer/director have made some incredibly overblown movies, but this was an enjoyable film. Ok... it's not breaking any new ground and it's retreading a lot of older material but not all movies need to be Oscar winners. It was a great popcorn flick.

Dan brown meets tomb raider - National Treasure Reviews
This was a fun movie to go and get lost in. It was like reading a whole Dan Brown in one sitting. Of course it lacked the unpredictable twists that we all love from Brown and went for the obvious. It had all the gun play of Tomb Raider with people getting out of impossible situations and going to exciting locales which is true of both Tomb Raider and Dan Brown. I really enjoyed the fact that it just jumped into the action, no dawdling with this movie. I must say Nick Cage out acted himself from his usual blah roles, he actually showed some emotion and passion which made for a nice change. His sidekick in the movie had all the best oneliners though. Overall I reccomend this movie for both sexes it has romance and guns you both will be happy!
Great movie ! - National Treasure Reviews
Jerry Bruckheimer has done it again! He is one of the greatest producers of all time and with an awesome casting such as Nic Cage. This movie was what I expected and wasn't too much action where the superhero knows martial arts and can dodge bullet. He was made very believable. The story was never dull and never had up and down parts, the suspense of it just kept growing as they found new clues which lead them to more clues. Great movie, you guys should all see it this friday! I was lucky to get early screening of it 3days ago at my school =).
A fun diversion - National Treasure Reviews
Anybody who walks into this or any movie expecting to see a true-to-life, fact-based story should stay home. "National Treasure" is a good, fun ride that you can take your kids to see.
There's no cussing, sex, or deadly violence, and a dearth of seat shattering explosions. What you have is a tense race between "good" and "evil" that interjects some mystery.
The fact that there is a national treasure is disputed, but you don't have to have any knowledge of the folklore to enjoy this movie. Nicholas Cage is Nicholas Cage, a solid, believable actor. Justin Bartha is 100% the perfect comedy sidekick. Diane Kruger is eye candy. Sean Bean is the likeable/hateable villain, and Jon Voight is the consumate professional he's always been since "Midnight Cowboy"
Don't expect "Raiders of the Lost Ark"...but don't expect "Pearl Harbor" either. This movie is a half a notch below the fun you had watching "Pirates of the Carribean", with a few more laughs.
Any critic who takes this movie too seriously and pans it because it falls short on the "believability" scale is merely taking out their frustrations on Jerry Bruckheimer. Why not? A super-wealthy producer is a fine target for a newspaper hack whose only claims to fame are when they pander to crappy movies and get quoted in a newspaper ad.

Actual history meets fiction. - National Treasure Reviews
I went to see this movie wondering how Masonry and the Knights Templar would be portrayed.
Being a member of both organizations, I am used to hearing negative comments about how our groups are secret societies plotting to take over the world.
This movie takes historical facts about Freemasonry, and Knights Templar, and the Templar treasure, then mixed in a wonderfuly exciting fictional story of treasure hunting, ending with Masons being portrayed as rational, compasionate men who have only one agenda.
The brotherhood of man, under the fatherhood of God.
Congradulations, and thanks to the producers and actors of National Treasure.
Outstanding - edge of your seat - National Treasure Reviews
This movie is outstanding, good, clean fun. I was on the edge of my seat and was actually rooting for them. it not only entertains you but gives you a history behind the treasure. I would recommend this movie to anyone. By the way, hats off to the producer and director for not making this a blood, shot em up filthy language movie. It's about time someone used their ability to write an excellent script without all that hoop lah.
I don't care what the critics say! - National Treasure Reviews
I was very wary of seeing this movie after reading the scathing reviews from professional critics. I loved the movie! It was fun, and clean (no sex, excess profanity), and interesting. Maybe these aren't oscar-worthy performances, but it was a fun movie to watch and I'll recommend seeing it to my friends and family.

A movie that gets you going - National Treasure Reviews
National treasure is one cool movie. I mean, it seems to be a slow start in the beginning but once the action begins, the adrenalin just seems to pump in. The visuals were pretty cool. The direction was pretty good. Makes you feel involved in the movie. Try not to take the movie too seriously. Just look at it as a hit & run action flick! No strings attached!
I would say that overall the movie does have it's moments & although it's not a trasure of a movie, it certainly stansa out with it's own individuality.
I would recommend to anyone looking for some great thrilling & exciting moments!
Light weight but fun adventure film - National Treasure Reviews
National Treasure is the story of Ben Gates (Nicholas Cage), a descendant in a long line of treasure hunters, or as he likes to put it, treasure protectors. His family name has long since been disgraced though for believing in the existance of the treasure, and his father Patrick Gates (Jon Voight) wants nothing to do with the family burden. You see, long ago the Gates family was entrusted with a clue, one of apparently many, that lead to perhaps the greatest amassed treasure ever. We learn of this folklore through Ben's grandfater, John Adams Gates (Christopher Plummer) in the opening moments.
You can help but draw parallels to Dan Brown's best selling novel, The Da Vinci Code. The Free Masons, Knights Templars-- the gangs all here. But this is a Bruckheimer film, the man behind Armageddon and Coyote Ugly and directed by Jon Turteltaub, responsible for Phenomenon and While You Were Sleeping. So unlike the touchy subjects of the novel, this movie is far more mainstream, venturing in PG-ish family friendly territory.
That's not a bad thing, as National Treasure is an enjoyable action film overall. There's the occassional silly dialogue, and the implausible situation from time to time, but it somehow works.
Along for the ride is Ben Gates' loyal sidekick Riley Poole (Justin Bartha proving there is life after Gigli). Ben and Riley have the uneasy task of attempting to prove there's a hidden map on the other side of the Declaration of Independence, one of the clues left by the Knights. This is where Abigal Chase (played by Diana Kruger) comes in. She has access to the document, and when Ben and Riley plot to steal it, she becomes involved with the both of them.
Rounding out the cast are Sean Bean, playing Ian Howe, Gates' financier and nemesis and Harvey Keitel as an FBI agent simply known as Sadusky.
Sat throught it twice... - National Treasure Reviews
This one had a great ending, but getting there was a little drawn out. I can't stand Nicholas Cage as an actor, but it seems the scripts he selects to do are ones which I appreciate, so I end up seeing almost all of his movies. I just wish he could act. Watching him trudge through all the clues and information gathering in the first half of the movie was rather dull at times, but the end more than made up for the wait in getting there. Lots of action in the typical chase-style, but the historical setting and references were facinating. Diane Kruger, Harvey Keitel, Justin Bartha, Jon Voigt, and Christopher Plummer all did nice jobs and made the movie work for me in spite of Cage. Sean Bean as the bad guy is another type casting job I didn't like. Typical Goldeneye/Patriot Games personna. Kruger really grows on you as the movie progresses from an up-tight Phd to just "one of the boys" at the end.
The unbelievable part was the stealing of the DOI. This is a ridiculous idea, but to have 2 groups almost succeed on the same night was absurd. Then what they find on it after they steal it is even more absurd, but it makes for interesting, albeit idle, contemplation. The Declaration goes through way to much rolling and unrolling, bouncing around, falling, lemons, heat, and who knows what else to come out of this intact. But somehow it does and all is well for the inspiration of future generations of Americans.

Fun, thrilling and action packed! - National Treasure Reviews
This movie is fascinating, educational, and manages to entertain without any foul language, sexual content, and or gratuitous blood shed. It is the type of movie that an entire family can enjoy. While some of the story and action events require the suspension of disbelief, you will undoubtedly overlook them in favor of the strong plot line and undercurrent of American history. This movie is great from beginning to end!
Decent acting, great story, unbelievable ending! - National Treasure Reviews
Where do I start... I have always been a fan of Nicholas Cage, but this movie takes it to a whole new level! Everything falls into place, the ending is unbelievable, and the love interest keeps females entertained. This movie will keep you on the edge of your seat and leave you more than satisfied!
This movie starts with a young boy named Ben (Cage) being told a tale of treasure and family tradition to find a National Treasure. The movie then send us straight into the search for the booty. The twist and suspense starts in the first scene when Cage finds the first clue and is abandoned by his partner and soon to be villian of the movie. the movie continues on with numerous clues and is paramounted by the stealing of the Declaration of Independence. After all is said and done the good guys win in style, but the ending will not end like you expect, completely.
Overall i loved this movie and would tell anybody to go! There is no swearing, innapropriate adult content, or violence. This is just old school fun! So saddle up and take a ride! Go find yourself some National Treasure.
Good clean fun! - National Treasure Reviews
Some of the folks who saw this movie actually get the point! This was made to entertain an audience, and it succeeds admirably. Riddles, mysteries, action and comedy in wonderful proportion.... carefully crafted by director Turteltaub, makes this film a success. It keeps us interested while occasionally poking fun at its own genre "who wants to go down the creepy tunnel in the tomb first?" Go see this movie! Then go see it again!
Not a treasure of a film - National Treasure Reviews
There have been many movies about treasure hunters and there is not much that you can work on in terms of the story. This movie certainly fits this description. Even though they added some elements to enhance it, I found the story mediocre. Once the premise was set at the start it?s pretty much downhill from there. The ending also was too cheesy and was rather disappointing.
What I found quite laughable were the names of the leading characters. Names like Benjamin Franklin Gates and the supposedly German name Abigail Chase. Surely they could have thought of better and more original names than these.
In terms of the acting I think most of the cast did a good enough job. There were times that Kruger?s acting was poor. Perhaps her relative inexperience is to blame. Also her accent was evident on some of the scenes which I thought didn?t fit her character even thought the filmmakers tried to mask that with a thin excuse.
Didn?t really think too much of them adding some humor in the form of Riley. There were times that his one liners were very amusing and at times a little annoying.
Not one of the best movies by a long shot but a good enough film if you want something light and perhaps something to relax you after a long week.
A movie treasure - National Treasure Reviews
If you are a Nicholas Cage fan and a fan of movies that make you think then this movie would be great for you. I really enjoyed the suspense and the movie never left you bored in your movie seat. If you're also a history buff then you'll pretty much dig this film. Great movie!
Declaration of fun! - National Treasure Reviews
This was just a fun-filled, intriguing, action packed movie! I really was sure what to expect when I went to go see this movie...I knew it would be full of action, but I also thought it would be a little hoky. Well, I was surprised at just how good the movie actually was! The ideas made sense, somewhat, and the story led you through some really "original" twists and turns. In some ways it reminded me of "Indiana Jones" (In that they were searching for treasure..and it had some similair scene sequences) and also of the "Davinci Code." The visuals were excellent, giving you a vew of almost all of Washington D.C.'s famous historical sites. The acting was great too. Justin Bartha, who seems to be a new actor to me, played a really good comic releif, and helped move the story along at many points. It was just a fun, original movie and I'd advise anyone, any age, especially people who really enjoy history, to go see this movie. Even you aren't really into history..the movie was still fun.
Go see it!
